"Bosque Winter" and "Mi Casa es Su Casa" were chosen for the covers of the Greater Albuquerque Medical Association Directory, 2014, 2017. My images of New Mexico's hummingbirds were featured in the Albuquerque Journal's "Life in New Mexico" Magazine published on September 6, 2015. The image entitled, "Tree of Serenity" was a featured image for the Shades of Gray exhibition and in the Albuquerque Journal's article, "Shapes and Shadows"December 4, 2016.
Artist Statement:
I believe that nature connects us to the world and each other, and photographs can make this happen. Just viewing an image depicting natural scenes can help people heal emotionally, spiritually, and physically. My greatest joy comes from being present in a natural setting, traveling to remote locations, and observing wildlife. A desire to document this feeling of connection with nature has led me to become a serious photographer and to use this skill in supporting a not-for-profit organization that I co-founded in 1997 (www.ecochamps.org). In addition, I like the technical challenge of photography and it nurtures a sense of my own creativity and unique perspective.
My photography is evolving rapidly as I experiment with composition, lighting, post processing , and rendering the images in different media to convey a message of connection, peace, and serenity. Any artist benefits from collegial interactions with others seeking creative expression. As I share my experiences with others I learn humility, patience, and the meaning of struggle and triumph. I am anxious to display my art and receive feedback on how others view my work.
